I started Peter Taylor Associates Limited, in Sussex, in 1978. In those early years PTAL were mainly engaged in the conversion of barns and oasthouses for private clients. The practice’s reputation grew and we established a foothold in Kent, Surrey and Sussex. In 1988 we refurbished the Roller Mill, in Uckfield, and opened our office there.

Since then the practice has expanded as we won instructions for substantial residential schemes for National house builder’s, educational and mixed use developments, as well as other sectors such as distribution, light industrial, food and non-food retail. PTAL have since opened offices in London and Birmingham. Our overall staff number is currently fifty five.

Over the last few years the practice has repositioned itself in response to the differing nature of our commissions. PTAL are fortunate to have been given the opportunity to enter into framework agreements with Registered Social Landlords resulting in our appointment on a number of notable social housing schemes. We have also been appointed on prestigious prime residential West End projects for private and commercial developer clients.

I attribute this success to the support of our clients and the talent and enthusiasm of our staff.

We continue to receive sizable instructions on large and complex mixed used schemes. In recognition of this, and in order to improve the level of service that PTAL are committed to providing to our clients we have the capability to utilise BIM, through our Revit software, on any project to suit the particular needs of our Clients, including providing a BIM coordination role.

I am delighted at the number of truly exciting projects that we are working on, the quality of service the practice is delivering, and the increasing confidence that I sense in the property and construction sectors.
