Peter Taylor Associates Limited was founded in 1978 and are a well- established team of Chartered Architects and Technologists delivering quality architecture across multiple sectors.

PTAL operates with a staff complement of 50 from regional offices in London, Birmingham and East Sussex to both UK and overseas Clients.

The Company generates repeat commissions from its existing private and public sector clients amounting annually to approximately 80% of fee turnover. This significant level of repeat business can only be sustained by providing services that meet, and often exceed, Clients’ expectations.

PTAL’s success is due to the commitment of its Team and the building of strong relationships with Clients, fellow Consultants, Local Authorities and through the Company’s involvement with the local community.

Our Sector Expertise

PTAL has an enviable reputation within the residential, mixed use, education and retail, commercial & industrial sectors  and are at the forefront of designing and delivering high quality schemes.

We enjoy working with Local Authorities and have proven experience in working directly with many London Boroughs in developing strategies that meet the needs of the local community and drive value through development.

We have proven experience in bringing value to projects through our knowledge, expertise and our ability to engage with stakeholders. We work as part of a team, and have the proven technical ability to deliver our ideas.

Our work covers a range of sectors and procurement routes, including:

Residential

We provide both pre and post planning architectural services across a range of building types and tenancies. Our work is focused on providing exceptional places for people that strengthen local communities. It is naturally informed by sustainability and modern methods of construction.

Whether we are working alongside Private Developers, individual Clients or Design and Build contractors we consistently add value through optimisation and rationalisation of the technical design.

Mixed Use

Our work here is both technically challenging and rewarding. The challenge is to solve the complex range of problems experienced in integrating a wide range of uses on the same site. The reward is the success in maximising opportunities from complex design briefs.

Education

Our ongoing relationships with Local Authorities and Government agencies not only demonstrate our ability to engage and work collaboratively, they also demonstrate our understanding of education design and priorities. We continue to deliver high quality architectural solutions within a variety of funding frameworks.

The education sector continues to evolve, through shifts in political policy and reduced government funding. Our highly experienced team continues to develop innovative ideas in both procurement and design, working with different Client bodies and Government agencies to help deliver the best education for the next generation.

Our team has a wealth of expertise in the design and delivery across all of the education strands, including the Higher and Further Education Sectors. We enjoy working with different stakeholders and developing strategies that meet the needs of the local community and drive value through development.

Retail, Commercial & Industrial

Our team has a wealth of experience in the design and delivery of retail premises, commercial offices and industrial buildings for a range of Clients including Lidl, Somerfield, WH Smith & Waterstone’s. We continue to deliver practical and aesthetic commercial environments whilst maintaining cost efficient proposals for clients and contractors.

We have designed and delivered large distribution units in excess of 500,000 ft². for clients such as Do It All, Boots and NOM Dairy Production.

Client Advisor

As well as design commissions we also undertake advisory work. We have an RIBA Registered Client Design Advisor within our team. Not only does this represent authority and trust where we are appointed directly by development partners, it also allows us to work with different design teams, which we thoroughly enjoy.

Policies

PTAL operate a certified Quality Management System to BSI EN ISO 9001, and are committed to the implementation and continuous improvement of our systems. Our Environmental Policy is fundamental to our practice, and we are also BSI EN ISO 14001 certified.

BIM

We have been designing and drawing using AutoDesk Revit for a number of years and all new commissions use this three-dimensional and highly interactive CAD software. We also have the capability to utilise BIM, through our Revit software, on any project to suit the particular needs of our Clients, including providing a BIM coordination role.

PTAL are Lloyds Registered for full certification for BIM Level 2 capability. Read our news story here.

Visualisation

Our in-house visualisation department, CGI-Hub, has successfully collaborated with architects, interior designers and developers to communicate their design proposals to a wider audience.

Our award winning visuals and presentations provide an excellent marketing tool to publicise developments, secure planning consent or simply to allow you to better understand and experience the final look of a building.

We have worked closely with our Clients and industry partners to help deliver their projects consistently on budget and within challenging timescales. We use the latest CGI, animation and virtual reality technologies.
