Peter Taylor and Katherine Mann attended the opening of Kidwells Estate, by local MP, The Rt Hon. Theresa May.
The Home Secretary said in her speech “Maidenhead is a great place to live, and it will only get more popular in the years ahead as the town centre’s rejuvenation continues. This means we need more homes for the area, and I am delighted that the Kidwells Close redevelopment is now complete. This is a very welcome project that will mean more homes for local families.”
The original Kidwells Close was the first built by One Housing, then known as Toynbee Housing, in 1968. When redevelopment was planned 50 residents signed a petition in support. One Housing worked with the residents to redevelop the close to meet their needs and to help tackle the housing shortage in Maidenhead.
The redevelopment also includes a new community centre, children’s playground and public plaza that features a sculpture by David Annand.
